other things to note
-
I only advise on college/university application essays. I will not review other materials such as activities or transcripts and I will not provide application review.
-
I will not advise, review, or coach supplemental essays intended for institutions where I or my family have attended or worked. These include:
Carnegie Mellon University
Loyola Marymount University
Portland State University
University of Oregon
University of Massachusetts Amherst
The techniques and strategies I teach are universal and may be applied to any supplemental essay. After working together, students will be comfortable responding to any institution.
-
That sincerely depends on the amount of work completed between meetings. Ideally, writers come to sessions with new material that we edit together.
Like with piano lessons, it’s about the work between sessions. The more completed between meetings, the more efficient the writing/editing process. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say a complete essay should take 5-8 sessions.
For truly passionate writers with 48 hours to spare, ask me about the Blitz.

Nope, this is your voice and words. I’ll write alongside you and consult, but you’re writing the essay.
You know how to make it not sound like AI or like you had someone write it for you? You write it yourself.
-
But you can write a killer essay and I can show you how.
-
Yes, you do. As far as we’re aware, nobody else wrote about you, and definitely not through your perspective influenced by the life you’ve lived.
-
Truly competitive applicants have put time and effort into the entire application. They understand how to concisely explain their message.
Last year, Stanford received 60,000 applications (most with high GPAs). They admitted 2,000. I would bet anything every admit wrote a killer essay.
-
Yes, it is.
Any story can be interesting, powerful, and moving. Strong essays clearly communicate their message, display a student's strengths, and allow the applicant to reflect on their growth.
Hundreds of essays will discuss playing soccer. Nobody else will write about soccer through your eyes.
